Forensic Accounting (Certificate)

Admission Requirements

Admission decisions are based on an undergraduate GPA, GMAT score (if needed), work experience, and other degrees.

  • Complete the Online Application;
  • Official transcripts for all previous academic work;
  • A resume;
  • Letter of Recommendation (included in the online application); and
  • Applicants are welcome to include any other information they feel is important to the admission consideration. This information can be uploaded while completing the online application.

Requirements for the Graduate Certificate in Forensic Accounting (24 credits)

 

Foundation Courses

Students are expected to demonstrate a minimum competence in accounting. This is possible by evidence in their transcript or by successfully completing ACC 5100 and/or ACC 5200.

  • ACC 5100 Corporate Financial Accounting (3 credits)
  • ACC 5200 Managerial Accounting (3 credits)

Required Courses

  • MBA 5210 Personal Development, Ethics, and Social Responsibility (3 credits)
  • MBA 5260 Systems and Technology (3 credits)
  • ACC 5500 Accounting Information Systems (3 credits)
  • ACC 5510 Auditing (3 credits)
  • ACC 5520 Corporate Fraud Detection and Prevention (3 credits)
  • ACC 5540 Cash Crisis Management (3 credits)

Elective Courses (choose 2)

  • CIS 5650 Information and Society (3 credits)
  • CYBE 5700 Principles of Cybersecurity (3 credits)
  • CYBE 5580 System Forensics (3 credits)
  • SEC 5950 Computer and Information Security (3 credits)
  • SEC 5020 Principles of Loss Prevention (3 credits)

MBA with Certificate

The certificate may be completed as a stand-alone program or in conjunction with our MBA degree program.

A student who completed the Graduate Certificate in Forensic Accounting would need only eight additional courses to complete the MBA degree; or conversely, a student who completed the MBA degree with three accounting electives from the certificate would need only three more courses to complete the certificate. For details, a student should consult with the director of Graduate Business Programs.
